Web accessibility means that people with disabilities — visual, auditory, or motor impairments — can fully use your website. It’s the right thing to do, and it’s also a legal requirement for some sites.
I follow WCAG 2.1 standards at level AA. If the website’s color scheme allows it, I’ll also meet the stricter AAA level. I design accessibility in from the start, not as an afterthought.
WCAG 2.1 Levels
| Level | Requirement | Example criteria |
|---|---|---|
| A | Minimum | Text alternatives for images, keyboard navigation |
| AA | Recommended standard | 4.5:1 contrast, visible focus, text resize |
| AAA | Highest | 7:1 contrast, sign language, extended audio description |
